Best Friends

We have two amazing cats, Tom and Elvis. Both are polar opposites. Tom is a chubby cat while Elvis is skinny. Both are yellow tabbies and both love to hang out with each other. They each have their own attitudes and styles. Two peas in pod...

Elvis is a born house cat, never been outside other than in a kennel when we transported him from one house to another. Elvis, unlike Tom, hates to be held. You can pick him up but only for a moment and he starts wigging out. He acts like he wants to be held, but he just can't do it. Elvis is my cat - he follows me everywhere I go.

Tom was an outdoor stray cat. We got him 10 years ago, when he crawled out from under hubby's Airborne Express Van while we lived on Germantown Drive. After we had him a while he got into a cat scrap and had to go to the vet. His eye got clawed up and he had a hole punctured in his neck. Later on, when we decided to have him fixed, we found out that the neck wound was actually a bullet hole and he has a bullet lodged against his spine. From that day on, we only let him outside when we are able to hang out with him. We moved from Germantown to Waterloo and our neighbors had 3 big dogs, so after that he just didn't go out anymore. Today, he is most definitely my husband's cat. Tom is constantly by his side.

Tom is the oldest of the two cats - but he doesn't mind letting Elvis run things. On occasion he gets tired of Elvis' games and puts him in his place, just as best friends sometimes do....
